Once upon a time years and years ago in Baghdad there lived a porter called Sinbad. As he was passing a palace one day, he saw a bench in the great doorway and thought he would rest on it. So he put down his load, and was about to sit down when curiosity got the better of him and, slipping through the entrance he went into the gardens. To Sinbad it was like heaven. Everywhere there were flower beds, gushing fountains and palm trees, in whose shade many gentlemen were strolling. while pages served them with cakes and drinks. Sinbad couldn't help exclaiming aloud:

The old monk sat by the side of the road. With his eyes closed and his legs crossed and his hand folded in his lap, he sat in deep meditation, he sat. Suddenly his zazen was interrupted by the harsh and demanding voice of a samurai warrior. "Old man! Teach me about Heaven and Hell!" At first, as though he had not heard, there was no perceptible response from the monk. But gradually, he began to open his eyes, the faintest hint of a smile playing around the corners of his mouth as the samurai stood there waiting... impatient... growing more and more agitated with each passing second.
A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5 year old son waiting for him at the door, "Daddy, may I ask you a question?" "Yeah, sure. What is it?" replied the father. "Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?" "That's none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?" The father said angrily." I just wanted to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the little boy. "If you must know, it's twenty dollars an hour." Looking up, he said, "Daddy, may I borrow $9 please?"
One day, while a woodcutter was cutting a branch of a tree above a river, his axe fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "Why are you crying?"
