Phu Yen

Phu Yen is a coastal province in southern Central Vietnam, located between Cu Mong Pass and Deo Ca Pass. This is the land of heroic revolutionary traditions, with a good depth of history and a rich, diversified culture fulll of national identities.
Phu Yen has a favorable geographical position, located on the main route of transport: the north – south National Highway 1A, the east – west National Road 25. It has a good transport network of railways, roads and sea routes, . . . connecting to Vung Ro sea port, Tuy Hoa airport, very convenient for business transport, economic development, local and international tourism.Phu Yen has a quite diversified and abundant resource of land, forest, sea, rivers, lagoons, bays, enough conditions for socio – economic development.

Nearly 70% of Phu Yen land are hills and mountains, in which many areas for concentrated industrial crops have been formed; it has great potentialities for hydro power production and many kinds of minerals served for many different industries; its forests are of diversified potential and highly biological, with a quite abundant plant covering carpet and many original, various species of plants and animals, especially there are many wild, rare and special plant and animal species. The Natural Reserve of Krong Trai and the Restricted Forest of Bac Deo Ca are very favorable for developing eco – tourism in the fulture. Phu Yen has a rather long coastline, nearly 200 km with many lagoons, bays and gulfs of different sizes, beautiful beaches like Cu Mong, Xuan Dai, O Loan, Vung Lam, Bai Tien, Bai Bang, Bai Tram, Bai Bau, . . . with many national – level vestiges and landscapes. Especially, the heroic historic vestiges of Vung Ro bay – the place receiving the Numberless Ships during the wars against the foreign invaders and Da Dia Reef – an extremely original natural beauty – spot. The marine area of Phu Yen more than 6,900 sq. km is of great sea product reserve, with many precious and rare special products, of high export value, . . . are good conditions for the development of marine economy and tourism.
Phu Yen has an abundant resource of land and labor, with 290,000 hectares of land which is good potential for the development of agriculture – forestry and husbandry; the labor force here is abundant, clever, hard – working and creative; the scientific – technical staff is getting more and more crowded, thanks to the preferential policies, attracting gifted people to contribute their parts in the building of the home province.
Phu Yen has 03 concentrated industrial parks: Hoa Hiep, An Phu and North – East Song Cau. Owing to the especially preferential policies, this place has become an important point of investment attraction in southern Central Vietnam up to now.
Phu Yen can be said to have enough conditions for the socio – economic development in the direction of industrialization, modernization and soon integrate into the general tendency of development in the country and in the world.
During the past few years with the innovated guidelines and policies of the Vietnam Government, Phu Yen has made a great deal of effort in striving for exploiting the potentialities, displaying the power resources and has achieved some remarkable progress, the average rate of growth is over 8% per year, the percentage of starvation and poverty has been reduced, the infra – structure has considerably been being invested, the general eco – socio picture of the provinve has had some betterment.
